Living Breakwaters is designed to work in concert with other ongoing resilience initiatives in the area, including the New York Rising Community Reconstruction Tottenville Dune and Coastal Dune Plantings project. 4.2.1 Corncobs and Gooseberries (breakwater ships) 4.2.2 Phoenix caissons 4.2.3 Bombardons. In the former case, the risk of structure sinking is not negligible. They are either empty inside or, more often, filled with a polystyrene or similar materials. A typical module is 1520 m long, 2.55 m wide, and 12 m high. The team’s work with the Harbor School and the Billion Oyster Project will bring educational opportunities for local school groups, teaching the next generation of ecological stewards about protecting Staten Island’s fragile coastline. Box type breakwaters are composed of reinforced concrete modules with a rectangular cross-section. Once we can resolve the issue we will extend to it as a known platform. If we can resolve that issue, we will support it, but currently it still looks like an OS issues with rendering or a Unity rendering issue on that OS. The structure will provide habitat to the Raritan Bay’s rich ecosystem of marine life, and an on-land Water Hub will be constructed with space for visiting groups, recreational activities, and educational programs. Currently Win7 has known issues with rendering the Ocean correctly. The proposal is a “necklace” of offshore breakwaters that will reduce risk, revive ecologies, and connect residents and educators to Staten Island’s southeast shoreline. Living Breakwaters was conceived to connect physical, social, and ecological resilience.
